  1. What are the requirements for a person to be registered as a pharmacist in Malaysia?

    To register as a pharmacist in Malaysia, a person must
    1. Be a Malaysian or a spouse of a Malaysian
    2. Posses a qualification recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia
    3. Undergone pupilage training of not less than a year in a premise recognized by the Pharmacy Board
    4. Pass a forensic examination conducted by the Pharmacy Board
    5. Comply with any other criteria that may be relevant to the qualification of the person

  2. What are the requirements for a foreigner to register as pharmacist in Malaysia?

    For a foreigner, he must :
    1. Possesses a qualification recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia
    2. Undergo pupilage training not less than a year that is recognized by the Paharmacy Board
    3. Pass a forensic examination conducted by the Pharmacy Board
    4. Comply with any other criteria that may be relevant to the qualification of the person

    Additional requirements are :

    1. He/she is married to a Malaysian
    2. He/ she is the spouse of a foreigner working in Malaysia under a valid working permit. There must also be no restriction in the applicant’s own visa

  3. Can anyone from unrecognized university get register with the Board?

    No. The recognition of a qualification is by a process where the university concerned request for recognition and through a process of documentation, evaluation and visit to the university by a team made up of representatives of a few government agencies, the qualification can be recognized.
  4. What happens to a foreigner who is a spouse of a Malaysia but is a fresh graduate and wants to register?

    At the present moment before the start of compulsory service, he/she can do his/her pupilage in Malaysia in a recognized private or government institution to fulfil that one year training requirement but if he/she should so chooses to do pupilage in a government institution, he will not be paid as the government does not pay training allowance to foreigners training in the government


  5. What if my parents is Malaysian but I am not, can I register with the Pharmacy Board?

    No. Foreigners can only apply for registration if they are spouses of a Malaysian or a spouse of a foreigner with valid working permit. Foreigners with parents who are Malaysian are not eligible for registration.

  6. How long it takes to recognize any qualification?

    The procedure for recognition include preparation of documentation by the university concerned, evaluation of the documentation, obtaining approval to visit the university and visit to the named university. From past experience, the length of the process is in terms of years.

  7. How long does it takes to issue certificate of registration?

    Up to 8 weeks after submission of COMPLETE documentation. Please note that where pupilage training is relevant, one of the documentation needed and sometimes late in submission, is the report of training from the institution where you are trained.
